Memphis authorities have made a pivotal arrest in connection with a 2024 Shelby County homicide. Nigel Farmer, age 30, stands accused of first-degree murder following an extensive year-long investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, which responded to a shooting on October 29, 2024, that left a 31-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound at the scene located in the 7800 block of Shadowland Cove.
The Memphis Safe Task Force, together with other agencies, worked relentlessly to track down Farmer. He was finally apprehended on November 19, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska by the U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force. The collaborative effort underscores a wider commitment to pursuing justice, exemplified by the task force's ability to not just stay but to actively chase down leads across state lines. According to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service, "justice knows no borders. We will continue to pursue accountability, no matter the state, no matter the country, and no matter the distance."
Farmer is currently charged as a fugitive from justice, with him being detained in Nebraska while he awaits extradition back to Shelby County, Tennessee. This arrest marks a significant milestone in a case that has seen detectives piecing together evidence over months to build a case strong enough to secure a warrant for Farmer's arrest. The outcome is a testament to the detailed and persistent work of law enforcement agencies at various levels of government.
