In a concerted effort to ensure the safety and integrity of law enforcement, the Memphis Safe Task Force has announced the arrest of a man posing as a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) agent. According to a press release dated November 18, 2025, the suspect, 47-year-old Andrew Lee, was arrested on a charge of Criminal Impersonation.
Task Force members initially spotted Lee on November 14 in a silver Toyota Tacoma, which he used to pick up a female pedestrian. The sequence of events led the officers to a consensual interaction with Lee, during which he presented what he claimed to be TBI credentials. The Task Force, in performing their due diligence, quickly discovered the falsity of Lee's assertions. He had, it turns out, never worked for the TBI.
An arrest warrant was obtained the following day after verifying the impersonation, and Lee was promptly taken into custody on November 16 in Medina, Tennessee. The significance of these arrests lies in their testament to the resolve of organizations like the Memphis Safe Task Force, who work to maintain public trust in our systems of justice and law enforcement.
Emphasizing the gravity of such deceit, "Impersonating law enforcement is not something we take lightly," Chad Hunt, Chief Inspector with the United States Marshals Service and Commander of the Memphis Safe Task Force, stated. Shedding light on the rigour with which they approach these cases, Hunt added, "These cases may be uncommon, but they are never overlooked. Our Task Force is meticulous, every detail is checked, every claim verified." The efforts by the Task Force reflect a larger commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that those who seek to undermine the credibility and safety of the public are dealt with accordingly.
The implications of this arrest reach beyond the immediate removal of a criminal element. It serves as a reminder to the public and to anyone who would assume the mantle of authority without right that the guardians of our safety remain ever watchful. It is this vigilance that upholds the principles we depend on for a community where trust in law enforcement is both essential and deserved.
