In a display of community vigilance, partnering effectively with law enforcement, a homeowner's watchful eye, and a swift response from Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies led to the arrest of two suspected backyard burglars in Morgan Hill. The homeowner, who was on Reynolds Drive, witnessed two women attempting to gain entry into the residence and quickly alerted the authorities. The suspects were seen trying their luck with the doors, but apparently, they hadn't managed to force their way inside.
The deputies were able to spot a suspicious SUV parked in the vicinity shortly after the call was made. Inside the vehicle, two individuals, whose appearance was a match for the homeowner’s description, were discovered, one of whom was caught with a meth pipe, suggesting possible drug involvement in the case. The vehicle's attempt to blend in was thwarted by its fake paper license plate, which, upon closer inspection, was revealed to be a photocopy designed to look genuine.
According to a social media post from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, a subsequent search of the SUV revealed a trove of suspicious items. Among the haul were a black ski mask, a tan Halloween mask, a pair of swanky Louis Vuitton bags, a purse, San Francisco 49ers collectible coins, various gift and debit cards, a BB gun, and a baseball bat adorned with black and pink screws.
Delving deeper into the background of the suspects, the deputies discovered that one of them had an active warrant from Santa Cruz County for three counts of burglary and conspiracy. Both women were placed under arrest and faced booking into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, where they would be held accountable for attempted burglary, conspiracy, and a variety of other charges.
