The ongoing search for Summer Wells, who disappeared over four years ago from her Hawkins County home, saw renewed activity as TBI agents and detectives pursued new leads. Last Thursday, law enforcement officials were on the ground in the 3500 block of Van Hill Road in Greeneville, a location just under 10 miles from the Wells' residence, acting on recent tips in the case. While the nature of the investigative lead has not been disclosed, the TBI spokesperson highlighted the continuous joint efforts between local authorities and the FBI to solve the mystery of the young girl's disappearance, WVLT News reported
Summer Wells, whose case remains at the forefront of an active AMBER Alert in Tennessee, was last seen on June 15, 2021, near her home on Ben Hill Road when she was approximately 5 years old, as described by WBIR. She is recognized by her blonde hair. It was reported she was wearing a pink shirt and gray shorts at the time of her disappearance, and although years have passed, the TBI continues to release age-progressed photos of Summer to sustain public awareness.
Details regarding the recent lead in Greeneville are sparse, with TBI representatives withholding substantive comments about the findings, if any, from this latest investigative effort; a pattern that has been standard as leads are pursued and vetted since the case began, according to information obtained by WATE. This strategic silence reflects a broader caution within the investigation, ensuring the integrity of the process while maintaining public hope for a resolution.
