The Howe Mansion in Nahant, a 19th-century Queen Anne home, has been restored with a $5.5 million renovation. Originally built in 1880 for Boston merchant Thomas Howe by Wait & Cutter, the mansion had been abandoned and damaged over the years, according to Boston.com.
The restoration, led by Volnay Capital, included replacing the structure with steel beams, a new roof and flooring, and modern additions such as a wine lounge and home theater. The mansion now features four floors with 8 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms, a powder room, a 3-car garage, a movie theater, and a gym, according to The Howe Mansion website.
Interior designers Shayna Bernshtein and Kelly Penny preserved original elements like the staircase and moldings while incorporating modern color schemes. The two-story library and other spaces combine historic details with contemporary finishes.
The property offers panoramic views of the coastline and the Boston skyline and is now available for purchase, with details listed on The Howe Mansion website.
