Upper Puna residents are set to gain a new center for learning and community connection as construction begins on a public library. "We're really happy to begin construction on this new library," said State Librarian Stacey A. Aldrich, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
The library will feature flexible spaces and modern technology to serve the district's growing needs. "We are increasing the space available for collections, adding a tech lab to support current technology, and provide small and larger rooms for community use," according to the Office of the Governor.
Construction has begun on a new 13,885-square-foot public library in Upper Puna. The library will be built on a vacant lot next to the Keaʻau Public and School Library. It will include a meeting room with an open-air lanai for events and community activities. The project is expected to take about two years and cost $20 million, as stated by the Office of the Governor.
