The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for New York City, with Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island all under alert. Forecasts released this morning indicate that wind gusts may reach up to 50 mph after dark.
The advisory, effective from 9 p.m. this evening until 8 a.m. Thursday, covers New York City as well as surrounding areas, including southern Connecticut and northeast New Jersey. According to the NWS, temperatures this week are expected to range from highs in the mid-60s to lows in the mid-30s, with variable conditions continuing over the coming days.
The conditions have also prompted a storm watch for coastal waters, including New York Harbor and the Long Island Sound. As per the NWS, residents along the shore may experience rough seas and low water levels from midnight tonight through early Thursday.
The city is expected to see partly sunny skies on Friday, with temperatures reaching around 60 degrees. However, a 70% chance of showers is forecast for Friday night into early Saturday, with rain likely between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. and continuing afterward.
By Veterans Day, forecasts indicate that the city will experience mostly sunny conditions, with temperatures in the mid-40s. Weather reports from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island all show similar expectations for a cool but clear day.
