Yesterday, an incident occurred at a T-Mobile store located on Highway 64 in the Wolfchase area of Bartlett, where an SUV unexpectedly crashed into the storefront. As reported by Action News 5, the Bartlett Fire Department indicated that the vehicle hopped the curb before careening through the front window. Despite the abrupt disruption and structural damage, no injuries were reported.
Police have not yet provided a statement on what caused the driver to lose control. However, FOX13 Memphis reported that the store is located along Highway 64 at Germantown Parkway, a bustling commercial district known for its heavy traffic. Due to the destruction, authorities have confirmed that the T-Mobile store will remain closed until further notice.
Images circulating on social media show the extent of destruction the building sustained. A silver vehicle can be seen lodged deep into the collapsed facade. According to a social media update from the Bartlett Police Department, as captured by WREG, "Pictures show the business sustained significant damage following the crash."
The Bartlett Police Department also confirmed that nobody, including the driver, sustained injuries in the incident. To date, the police have not publicized the sequence of events that preceded the crash, leaving the community to grapple with questions on safety in an area frequented by pedestrians and shoppers. Plans for repairing the damage and reopening the store have yet to be revealed, as the investigation into the cause of this accident remains ongoing. Inevitably, this occurrence serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of urban roadways, even in the seemingly tranquil setting of a retail environment.
