With winter bearing down, Ohio State University is rolling out its safety protocols to help everyone navigate the snowy season ahead. In a no-nonsense approach, the university's various departments, such as Facilities Operations and Development (FOD), CampusParc, and Transportation and Traffic Management (TTM), have coordinated efforts to address winter weather concerns on campus.

According to an article published by the Ohio State University, staff are ready to clear roadways, treat icy sidewalks, and keep transportation services running. Visitors and members of the Ohio State community may notice snow accumulation in some areas, but teams from FOD will be diligently working to keep pathways accessible. The time needed to clear these areas is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to temperature, the amount of snow, wind levels, and the timing of the weather event relative to the day and week.

TTM isn't taking a snow day either, promising continuous bus services throughout the winter period. For those dependent on real-time updates, the Ohio State app offers live tracking of the Campus Area Bus Service. In addition, TTM provides an ADA-compliant paratransit service, ensuring that it's business as usual for everyone, regardless of mobility constraints.

The university's Emergency Management team is on deck as well, keeping a watchful eye on shifting weather patterns and ready to share weather updates online and on Twitter via @OSU_EMFP. Students and staff are reminded to exercise caution and report any hazardous icy conditions to Service2Facilities. They can make this report by calling 614-292-4357 or, if it's within the Wexner Medical Center, to a different number, 614-293-8645.
