Allegan County experienced two separate road accidents yesterday, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, and prompting investigations into the causes. In the first incident, reported by WZZM 13, a head-on collision on 142nd Avenue near 41st Street in Overisel Township led to the death of a passenger and injuries to several others, including a 14-month-old child in stable condition and a woman in critical condition. Authorities indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.
Later that evening, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on Lincoln Road (M-40 Highway North) between 127th and 128th Avenues in Heath Township. According to WOODTV, a pickup truck lost control and struck a southbound car, injuring several passengers. A third vehicle was unable to stop in time and also became involved in the collision.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating both crashes. In the Lincoln Road incident, speed and weather are being considered as possible contributing factors. The Hamilton Fire Department, Life EMS, Holland AMR, and the Michigan Department of Transportation responded to the scene, and the Accident Reconstruction Team was dispatched to conduct further analysis.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of those involved, pending notification of their families. Community members are awaiting updates on the injured and are concerned about preventing similar accidents in the future.
