The Orange Park Police Department is taking a proactive stance on public safety with two upcoming training sessions that are free and open to all locals. On December 7, community members can engage in workshops on both e-bike safety and active assailant preparedness, as announced in a recent social media post by the Orange Park Police Department.
The day will begin with an E-Bike Safety Workshop from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM where attendees can learn essential safety tips and riding skills; this is followed by a seminar from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on how to handle an active assailant situation which aims to educate civilians on recognizing danger and effectively reducing risk, both sessions are a direct effort to bolster the well-being of this small community of approximately 9,000 residents, that way they can better navigate the challenges posed by the contemporary landscape where such knowledge could prove life-saving.
Local resident Earl Padgett praised the initiative, emphasizing the value of such local police efforts. "This is a fantastic opportunity for our community! In a town of roughly 9,000 plus people, having local officers who know our neighborhoods, our families, and our day-to-day routines makes all the difference," Padgett remarked. "These trainings reflect exactly why local policing matters our officers aren’t just responding to emergencies; they’re proactively helping residents stay informed, prepared, and safe," he added, outlining the significant impact these workshops could have on local safety and police-community relations.
Mark Cornett Sr. also weighed in, heralding the sessions as "Two more examples of Community-Oriented Policing (COPS) in our community!" which demonstrates both the commitment of the OPPD and serves as testament to the leadership of Chief Case and his team, these sentiments underline the department's dedication to community engagement and are indicative of a policing philosophy that seeks not just to react but to prevent and empower.
By offering these safety workshops, the OPPD reinforces its commitment to community proactive measures, aiming to enhance not just individual safety but also collective security and trust within the town of Orange Park.
