The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Philadelphia area. The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST today and applies to Delaware, New Jersey, and southeastern Pennsylvania. Forecasts call for west winds of 20–30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
According to the NWS, Philadelphia is expected to have mostly sunny skies today, with winds around 15 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. As the workweek begins, Monday and Tuesday are expected to have mostly clear and sunny skies. Nighttime temperatures will drop to near or below freezing, so warmer layers may be needed after sunset. Later in the week, there is a chance of rain, with precipitation probabilities rising to about 40% as the weekend approaches.
The NWS says strong winds may knock over unsecured objects, break tree limbs, and cause some power outages. People are advised to secure any loose items. Officials also urge drivers especially those in high-profile vehicles—to use caution, as the winds can make travel more difficult.
The rest of the week is expected to bring a mix of dry weather and possible rain, with precipitation chances rising toward the weekend.
