The Southwest Detective Division is currently investigating a string of residential burglaries across the 12th and 18th Districts that they believe to be connected. The series of incidents, which started on September 27th and continued through early November, involves an unknown suspect with a specific mode of entry—breaking in through windows and doors in the early hours—and a consistent description has begun to surface linked to these crimes.
According to the Philadelphia Police report, the suspect is described predominantly as a black male with a medium build and varying attire, including items such as a light-colored pullover hoodie, black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants with white lettering, and a black mask. Their spree of burglaries, which includes the theft of personal items such as electronics, clothes, a wallet, and even food items valued collectively at over $8,000, has left residents feeling uneasy and alert to any possible intrusions.
In one incident detailed by the police, on October 20th, the unknown individual managed to gain entry through a basement window and abscond with possessions totaling approximately $1,450. The series of burglaries all follow a similar pattern of entry and escape, with the suspect often triggering alarms as they exit the properties.
The public has been urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The Southwest Detective Division is actively encouraging anyone with information to come forward. The detectives can be reached at 215-686-3183/3184. By casting light on these incidents, it is hoped that the community can collectively help to quickly bring the perpetrator, or perpetrators, to justice and restore a sense of security to those affected neighborhoods.
