Over the past weekend, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office reported a series of criminal incidents that shook the community, including a stabbing, acts of arson, and a case of theft involving heavy machinery. Details of these events have been made public through the office's social media channels.
In a statement posted on Facebook, officials reported that last Friday, deputies responded to a stabbing at a group adult home on the 600 block of 165th St. S. The 28-year-old male victim, attacked with a screwdriver while sleeping, was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover. A 22-year-old male suspect was detained nearby and has been booked for assault in the first degree.
Another incident involved a 33-year-old woman who was allegedly causing fires in a neighborhood around 119th St. S and 8th Ave. Ct. S on Sunday. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, she was found carrying a lighter and a M-80-type explosive after residents reported her setting objects on fire. The woman was promptly detained and later booked for two counts of reckless burning in the second degree.
The Sheriff's Office is also investigating the theft of an excavator and trailer from the 11100 block of 66th Ave. E in the Puyallup area last Friday. Surveillance footage obtained by deputies shows two suspects using bolt cutters to breach a fenced area, hooking up the trailer, and driving away with the excavator. The office is seeking the public's assistance to identify these suspects and has encouraged tip-offs through their Crime Stoppers line, hinting at a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and charges.
The Sheriff's Office continues its investigation and calls for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and assist in holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
