Residents of Pikesville were greeted by an unusual and disturbing sight this past weekend as they discovered that a spree of vehicle break-ins had occurred in the neighborhood. According to reports by WMAR-2 News, around a dozen cars were forcibly entered with their passenger side windows shattered and interiors searched.
The nature of these incidents involved the assailants donning masks and gloves, suggesting that they had come to carefully avoid leaving evidence behind. "The people had on masks and gloves on and [police] took fingerprints off of my car and found nothing, so they're well organized," Bob Terkowitz, whose car was one of those targeted, stated, WMAR-2 News detailed. Despite the vandalism, it remains unclear if any valuables were actually stolen from the vehicles.
WBAL-TV reported that over 14 vehicles had their passenger side windows smashed, and while some residents reported stolen items to the police, others, like Harriet Cooper, were relieved to find nothing of value taken. "I wasn't even that upset. I didn't know what to think. Nobody was hurt, thank God," Cooper said. The criminal activities stretched across several streets – Clearwind Court, Woodbox Lane, Pipe Hill Court, and Ten Timbers Lane.
Baltimore County Police are actively investigating the break-ins, with a trail camera nearby possibly providing vital information. Residents are attempting to move past the incident, thankful that it did not escalate further.
