A Pinal County man is facing serious allegations after authorities discovered a large trove of child sexual abuse material in his possession. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, 26-year-old Brandon Phillips was apprehended by the Pinal County Sheriff's SWAT team on Oct. 30 following a vehicular maneuver executed with a grappler to stop his car amidst traffic.
Phillips was subsequently arrested and is now charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Following the tip reported about a month ago, investigators with warrants searched two homes located in San Tan Valley and Queen Creek, where they uncovered approximately 1,900 images that depicted child sexual abuse, driving under the influence, and he allegedly admitted to using cocaine as well, as reported by KOLD News 13.
The operation that led to Phillips' arrest involved collaboration among different agencies. Homeland Security agents and Queen Creek Police also assisted the sheriff's detectives in gathering evidence. During his arrest, an official issued a stark warning, declaring, "If you don't follow commands, I will send my dog and he will bite you," underscoring the tense circumstances surrounding the apprehension.
Amid his encounter with law enforcement, Phillips also faces a charge of DUI. "You are under arrest for DUI. The mixture of whatever substances that you took last night that you said, probably cocaine. Obviously, on every test that we've done there's been pretty significant physical impairment," an official divulged, revealing the suspect's condition during the arrest. In an ongoing investigation, the suspect's digital breadcrumb trail paints a grim portrait of exploitation and substance abuse. Details on when Phillips will have his day in court are not yet disclosed.
