The holiday spirit is revving up in Pittsburgh as the city prepares for the 64th Highmark Light Up Night and the Peoples Gas Holiday Market. In an announcement that's got local festivities fans marking their calendars, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) has rolled out the red carpet for the annual events set to begin on November 21 and 22, according to WPXI.

The Peoples Gas Holiday Market, a time-honored event known for its unique chalets filled with gifts, is starting the festivities on November 21 at 11 a.m., albeit in a new location this year due to construction; shoppers can find the stands now in the Cultural District. Backed by a sense of community and a drive to support local businesses during the gift-giving season, the PDP is pitching in with a range of entertaining activities, "The holidays bring people of all ages and from all corners of the region together in Downtown to celebrate beloved Pittsburgh traditions,” Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, stated, as per WPXI.

As for Light Up Night, Pittsburghers can witness the city transformed into a twinkling winter wonderland on November 22. The action kicks off at 4 p.m. with tree and bridge lightings complemented by a lively schedule, including performances on the Highmark Main Stage and Xfinity Riverside Stage, said CBS News. Attendees will get to experience a symphony of fireworks with displays slated for 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and a grand finale by Zambelli at 9:30 p.m. following the lighting of various iconic city landmarks.

In what's become a cherished holiday tradition, little visitors can enjoy Santa’s House from Nov. 21 to Dec. 24, where meeting Santa comes with a nudge to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank through donations. Meanwhile, Market Square is set to transfigure into a "Yinzer Wonderland" complete with a window display competition, all set to begin on Light Up Night.
