The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) monitored a demonstration in the South Waterfront area on Thursday night, activating its Incident Management Team. A Crowd Management Incident Commander directed the operation, which included Rapid Response members and Dialogue Liaison Officers, who wore white shirts and were tasked with maintaining communication with demonstrators, as per the Portland Police Bureau release.
Oregon State Police and Portland Fire & Rescue assisted the Portland Police Bureau during the event. The night ended without major incidents or arrests, and officers reported no criminal activity requiring intervention. The number of arrests related to South Waterfront demonstrations remains at 64.
The Portland Police Bureau reaffirmed its policy under Directive 810.10, which states that the bureau does not take part in immigration enforcement but continues to enforce state laws and ensure public safety. Chief Day’s letter outlining this approach is available on the Portland Police Bureau’s website.
Residents are encouraged to follow PPB’s Events channel on X for updates and safety information. The bureau also noted that while no arrests were made at the scene, investigations may continue afterward, and cases could be referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office for review.
