A few weeks ago on the Sammamish River Trail, an emergency occurred that required a quick response from local authorities. An elderly cyclist needed urgent help after his ride took a serious turn. According to a social media post from Redmond WA Police, the call for help came in around 3:30 p.m. on November 11. A 911 caller could be heard groaning but did not respond to the dispatcher. As the police noted, “Our dispatch center received a 911 call from someone who could be heard groaning but did not respond to the call taker.”

The dispatcher quickly traced the call to a location along the remote section of the trail. A Drone First Responder pilot was sent to the area and confirmed the rider’s location from the air. Guided by the drone, police officers reached the man, who appeared to have lost control of his bicycle and was unconscious, drifting in and out of awareness.

The Redmond WA Police highlighted the effort on a Facebook post, stating, “Thanks to quick coordination between dispatch, DFR, police, and medical teams, he was located fast and transported to a local hospital with multiple injuries.”
