As the leaves descend in Raleigh, the city prepares for the onset of leaf collection season starting this Wednesday, November 12. Residents can choose from several methods to handle their fallen foliage.
According to a recent announcement by the city, mulching is an encouraged option, allowing leaves to decompose and enrich garden soils. Alternatively, Raleigh's crews will be traveling through neighborhoods on a set schedule to collect loose piles of leaves. For those with a penchant for tidiness or time constraints, the city offers a third option with a hint of generosity, providing free yard waste bags to expedite the process.
Engaging in the city's cleanup initiative, Raleigh Transportation is distributing one bundle of five large paper yard waste bags, each capable of holding 30 gallons, to every household that requires them. Residents interested in snagging these bags can do their part in keeping the city clean and clear of leafy debris by picking them up from certain locations scattered conveniently across the city, as specified by the city's announcement.
Bags are available according to the City of Raleigh website, at the Central Operations Facility located at 2550 Operations Way, the NERO Location on 3228 Spottswood Street, and the Raleigh Municipal Building at 222 W. Hargett Street, where they can be found on the 4th floor.
