The Folsom Cordova Unified School District is asking Rancho Cordova residents to help name a new high school opening in August 2028 at 3215 Prospect Park Drive. An online survey will accept name suggestions until November 21. The district’s Board of Education will review the entries and choose the official name. The school will serve about 500 to 800 students and offer academic, early college, and career programs, along with flexible learning options, according to ABC10.
The Rancho Cordova district is converting an existing office building into a new high school, a move expected to reduce typical construction costs by about 30% and save $30–40 million. This approach reflects the district’s focus on innovation and fiscal responsibility.
Community members are now invited to help name the school, with early suggestions including “Prospect High” and a proposal to honor local pioneer William Alexander Leidesdorff. “We want the community to be involved in naming the high school,” said board president Chris Clark, noting that submissions are open through November 21 via the district’s online form, as per Sacramento Bee.
