
A ferocious blaze engulfed an apartment building on Marshall Street in Redwood City last Saturday, prompting a swift response from local emergency services. The Redwood City Police Department received a distress call at approximately 7:53 a.m., as flames were reportedly visible licking the structure. In tandem, the Police and Fire Departments sprang into action, as chronicled in a press release issued by the Redwood City Police Department.
The first responders on the scene managed to evacuate all the building's residents, ensuring that no one was harmed in the immediate aftermath of the inferno. However, the fire did not relent without consequence; it cast its wrath upon three apartment units, subjecting them to varying degrees of fire and water damage.
In a critical development, authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. According to the police press release, 35-year-old Redwood City resident Eliaser HernandezValadez later returned to the apartment complex. Officers were on the scene, and he was arrested without incident.
HernandezValadez was subsequently booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on multiple felony charges, including Arson to an Inhabited Dwelling (Penal Code 451(b)), Reckless Burning (Penal Code 452(a)), and a Probation Hold (Penal Code 1203.2(a)).
