Round Rock's landscape of leisure and live entertainment received a significant upgrade with the debut of the new Lakeview Pavilion & Stage, as reported by the City of Round Rock. The grand opening event, dubbed "A Stone in the Park," which transpired this past Saturday, featured a performance by Allen Stone and set the stage for the structure's future as a central hub for community events.
The inauguration was marked by fanfare and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Craig Morgan and City Council members in attendance. In what seemed to publicly honor the present, as well as to subtly promise the community, officials highlighted the venue's potential impact on coming generations. DJ Hella Yella was there to get the crowd amped up before Stone's headlining performance, and the night was capped off with a fireworks display over the adjacent lake.
The recently completed Lakeview Stage and pavilion, with its open-air design, is anticipated to be a central venue for a variety of cultural happenings. Nearly three times the size of the previous structure, it also touts expanded restroom facilities to better accommodate large crowds. In addition, residents can look forward to the new Joanne Land Playground, an addition meant to further enrich the offerings at Old Settlers Park.
As part of a broader multi-year renovation under the 2023 G.O. bond projects approved by voters, Old Settlers Park is to slowly but surely transform into an even more inviting space for recreation and gatherings. Round Rock plans to introduce an assortment of new facilities, including an amphitheater, playground, and extended sports courts, hoping to turn the park into a top-tier destination for both residents and out-of-towners.
The Lakeview Pavilion itself is intended to function as a permanent stage for pivotal events like Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, and the "Light up the Lake" celebrations. Complete with sizeable restrooms and playgrounds, the newly upgraded space comes equipped with the necessary civil and electrical enhancements to support large-scale events. The City of Round Rock awaits the Pavilion's unfolding story as a cornerstone for celebration and community connection in the years to come.
