In a concerted effort to suppress criminal activities across several communities, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has executed a string of operations dubbed "Operation Consequences". This initiative, stretching from October 27 through November 2, 2025, entailed the collaboration between the Sheriff’s Department's Gangs/Narcotics Division and varied law enforcement personnel, as described in a Nixle alert. The operation's sweep targeted areas within Hesperia, Highland, San Bernardino, Bloomington, Rialto, Montclair, Redlands, and Jurupa Valley, aiming to curb illegal firearm possession and gang-related offenses. according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
During the operations, the Sheriff's Department partnered with various agencies, including California Highway Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The task force was particularly active in areas such as the 10000 block of Seventh Avenue in Hesperia and the 5700 block of Avenue Juan Bautista in Jurupa Valley. In their week-long surge, investigators have made significant headway. They confiscated 10 firearms, made 10 felony arrests, and netted one misdemeanor arrest, per Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus's report.
The activities of the Street Enforcement Team (SET), a component of the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH), are of note as well. SET carried out proactive patrols in Yucaipa and its adjacent environs in a bid to make their presence felt and deter potential lawbreakers. As a result of these enhanced efforts, there has been a notable engagement with gang members and individuals restricted from owning firearms.
Financial backing for these activities comes from the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, which authorized funding specifically for county-wide crime suppression endeavors, with the aim of improving law enforcement services and addressing quality-of-life issues affecting residents. The sheriff's department, supported by this financial boost, has tripled its capacity to initiate actions like Operation Consequences, with a strategic emphasis on violent crime, targeted criminal groups, and crimes surrounding firearms possession and trafficking.
Looking ahead, Operation Consequences is slated to continue over the coming months across the High Deserts and surrounding San Bernardino jurisdictions. The principal objective: disruption of criminal activities, with a particular lens on gangs that plague the community with violence and illegal arms trafficking.
