
New Orleans residents are witnessing an active period of infrastructure enhancements as the city's Department of Public Works plows forward with a multitude of roadwork projects aimed at improving streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems across the urban landscape.
The ongoing projects span a variety of areas, with alleyway work continuing in Lakeview, especially re-grading efforts moving eastward from the Louis XIV Street Alleyway towards Canal Boulevard, according to a recent update in the City of New Orleans as for sidewalks, DPW is dedicated to enhancing pedestrian access citywide with projects set to meet ADA standards with each location expected to wrap up its workarounds in about two weeks.
Sidewalk upgrades aren't the only focus; rapid progress is observed in the realm of row improvements, where crews have nearly finished the curb resetting and road removal along North Galvez Street (Canal - St. Louis), with a projection of substantial completion eyed for December, while also gearing up for resurfacing from Almonaster Avenue to Clouet Street as outlined by City of New Orleans.
Crosswalk improvements along Harrison Avenue between Canal Boulevard and Argonne Boulevard have been completed. Crews are continuing patching work along the stretch, block by block, according to the Department of Public Works.
The city is implementing several FEMA-funded projects across multiple neighborhoods, focusing on full block reconstruction that includes underground utility upgrades and accessible sidewalks. According to the City of New Orleans' recent reports, these initiatives are part of ongoing and upcoming efforts to improve infrastructure and public access throughout the city’s districts.
