Senator Mark Kelly is intensifying his efforts to address rising health care costs, urging both his Republican colleagues and the President to provide relief for Arizonans facing higher insurance premiums. During a press call last Saturday, he highlighted stories from residents affected by premium increases, including Courtney Deer, who reported her coverage costs rising to about $1,342 per month with reduced benefits, as per the Arizona Senator's Office website.
Kelly stated that he will continue pressing lawmakers and the administration to find solutions, emphasizing that families should not have to choose between essential needs and health care. Around 370,000 Arizonans have experienced significant premium increases as the ACA open enrollment period began this month, with some at risk of losing tax credits that make coverage affordable.
Dr. Neil Singhai, a health care professional, noted that ACA tax credits have helped many Americans maintain coverage and access vital medical care. Another Arizona resident, Michelle Jernigan, shared that she spends about $16,000 a year on her own health plan, excluding coverage for her husband and five children, underscoring the financial strain many families face.
Kelly reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing measures that would protect families from rising costs and preserve access to affordable health care in Arizona.
