The City of Snellville, Georgia, is opening the floor for bids on a parcel of land, with the intention of seeing a new community center constructed on the site. In a public notice dated Wednesday, officials have indicated that all bids for the roughly 4.80-acre property must be sealed and submitted before the deadline of December 8, at 10:00 a.m. Interested parties can find bid details and related documents through the City Manager, Matthew Pepper, as per the announcement on the City's official website.
The stipulations of the sale come with a unique caveat – the highest bidder will be required to "acquire, construct, and install a new community center" that aligns with the City’s specified plans and specifications. Furthermore, the completed facility must then be leased or sold back to the city under terms that are deemed acceptable by local authorities. These conditions form part of an effort to foster developments that align with the urban planning goals of Snellville, according to the city's notice.
Bidders seeking more information or who wish to participate in the sealed bidding process can obtain bid blanks and other documents from the City Manager’s Office located at 2342 Oak Road, Snellville, Georgia 30078. On the day of reckoning, December 8, the bids will be publicly opened in Conference Room 145 at the City of Snellville City Hall. This session not only reaffirms the City's commitment to transparency but also allows the public to stay abreast of municipal developments. Following the opening, a tabulation of all bids will be available for public inspection.
No sale is set in stone, as the City expressly reserves the right to reject any and all proposals. Such discretion allows Snellville to ensure that the ultimate decision on the property's future serves the community’s best interests. In addition to the formal acquisition process, the City mandates a 60-day retention period post-bid opening for all proposals to remain accessible to the public.
