South Gate saw a flurry of police activity as the local department responded to three separate robberies within the city on November 4, according to their official Facebook page. In a detailed account of the day’s events, authorities reported swift action leading to multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen property.
The first incident occurred at South Gate Park, located at Tweedy Blvd & Walnut Ave, where three individuals were apprehended after robbing a victim of shoes, a backpack, and a phone. In a statement posted on Facebook, the City of South Gate Police Department announced, "All three were quickly caught, identified, and arrested." This success can be quickly attributed to the immediate response of the officers present.
That very same day, an armed robbery took place on the 9800 block of San Miguel Ave. A group of four suspects, one of whom was reportedly in possession of a knife, confronted and robbed another individual of their phone. These suspects were not only located but also identified and taken into custody, with the victim's phone being safely retrieved by the authorities.
The final event reported was a chain snatch robbery that happened while a person was waiting for the bus at Tweedy Blvd. & California Ave. Three masked suspects were involved in this crime, but thanks to a team effort by South Gate Police officers and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies, they were stopped and apprehended. The City of South Gate Police gratefully acknowledged the assistance from LASD deputies, noting, "The victim’s property was also recovered."
The police department's Facebook post concluded with a note of gratitude for the quick actions of its officers and the support from the LASD.
