
St. Augustine Police Chief Jennifer Michaux will retire on January 13, 2026, after a 30-year career with the department, having started as a patrol officer in 1995 and becoming the city's first female chief in 2021. During her tenure, she implemented key improvements, including consolidating dispatch services and creating a downtown bike unit, according to the City of St. Augustine.
City Manager David Birchim praised her work, saying, "Chief Michaux has served our community for 30 years with dedication and commitment to protecting our residents, business owners and visitors." He added, "We wish Chief Michaux the very best in her well-deserved retirement," as reported by the City of St. Augustine.
Chief Michaux, a Flagler College graduate with a Bachelor of Science in public administration and a former Petty Officer in the United States Navy, is retiring from the St. Augustine Police Department. She said, "It’s been a true honor to work with all of you during my time with SAPD. I had the privilege of growing both professionally and personally," and added, "I do not doubt that SAPD will continue to reach new heights with such an incredible group of people working together." Her retirement marks a transition for the department as it continues its work serving the community, as stated by the City of St. Augustine.
