In St. Charles Parish, the scent of safety was as tangible as the smoke that wasn't there—metaphorically speaking—as the Sheriff's Office joined forces with the local volunteer firefighters for a Fire Safety Fair. The event, held last Saturday and detailed in a recent post by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, offered the community a hands-on experience with some of the key tools and trained four-legged partners that keep them safe.
The family-friendly affair featured an opportunity to explore the Bearcat, an armored vehicle that often fades into the background of our daily consciousness; unless, of course, it's called upon to shield us from harm's way. Children and adults alike could examine fingerprint kits, delving into the detective work that underpins much of modern policing. And there were the K9s—Daisy, Fibi, and Max—canine officers dutifully serving alongside their human counterparts. "Retired K9 Max was a crowd favorite, receiving plenty of belly rubs," the Sheriff's Office shared, a simple joy for a dog who's served well, as per the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office post.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked attendees and participants of the Fire Safety Fair in St. Rose. Residents had the opportunity to learn about fire safety, interact with deputies, firefighters, and K9 units, and gain hands-on experience with safety demonstrations. The event aimed to foster community engagement and provide educational resources to the public.
