The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department will host its second annual Family Color Run 5K on November 15, at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds. According to St. Johns County, the event will begin at 9 a.m. and is open to families. Last year’s inaugural Family Color Run 5K drew participants of all ages and fitness levels to the mostly off-road course. This year, the event will feature even more colored powder, allowing runners to be covered in vibrant colors throughout the course. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for the colorful experience.
Tess Simpson, Community Program Manager for Parks and Recreation, confirmed the department is eager to see the event continue. "We can’t wait to see this fun new County tradition continue to grow in its second year," she said in an official announcement. The race provides families with a unique pre-Thanksgiving activity and a chance to bond over a morning run or walk.
Registration for the Family Color Run 5K is open on the Florida Race Day website with a $25 entry fee per participant. The fee includes a race spot, a commemorative medal, professional timing, and access to the color stations along the course. Jamie Baccari, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.
The event is supported by sponsors including the YMCA and Urban Air Adventure Park. After the run, participants can join a free disc golf clinic hosted by the St. Augustine Disc Golf Club at the Fairgrounds, providing additional activities beyond the race.
