In the Eastern District of New York today, Justin Dixon received a 15-year prison sentence for his crimes involving the coercion and enticement of a minor and illegal firearm possession, following a ruling at the Brooklyn federal courthouse. Dixon, known to operate a sex trafficking ring, pled guilty last year to charges of manipulating women and minors as young as 14 into prostitution, actions that were coupled with the use of violence and intimidation to control his victims, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York news release.

The sentence was the culmination of efforts by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, with U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella, Jr., remarking "Today’s sentencing holds the defendant accountable for the violence and cruelty to women and children caused by his unthinkable actions," expressing hope for the victims to find some comfort from the judgment, as per a statement obtained by the U.S. Attorney's Office; Dixon, exploiting his victims for personal gain and maintaining dominance through physical and psychological abuse trafficked them to and from the Penn Track, an area in East New York, Brooklyn infamous for such activities, often using social media and other internet platforms to ensnare and groom potential victims under his wing.

The NYPD, along with the FBI, played critical roles in the successful prosecution, their collaborative efforts to address sex trafficking reaffirmed by the substantial prison term handed to Dixon. FBI Assistant Director in Charge, Christopher G. Raia, stressed in his statement the importance of punishing those who prey on vulnerable individuals for profit, while NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch stated, “Today’s sentencing further affirms the NYPD’s unwavering commitment to protecting the survivors of sex trafficking," indicating the NYPD's dedication to justice for such heinous crimes as obtained by the Department of Justice report. Coordination with the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office was also pivotal in advancing the case, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Dixon’s offenses included forcing a minor, identified as Jane Doe, into prostitution and using physical force and coercion to control the victims in a Staten Island house. He imposed strict rules on their behavior and took all of the money earned. Despite being a convicted felon, Dixon also illegally possessed firearms, which he used to intimidate the victims. Assistant United States Attorney Lorena Michelen led the prosecution in this case, which focused on human trafficking and civil rights violations.
