A disruptive encounter at Third Creek Middle School in Statesville escalated into a charged confrontation, resulting in the arrest of a local woman. According to a report by WBTV, 35-year-old Saifah McCollum allegedly attacked a school resource officer during a meeting about a middle schooler on Wednesday morning. The Iredell County Sheriff's Office stated the incident began when McCollum's conduct in the school raised safety concerns for those present.
Matters reportedly spiraled when McCollum was asked to leave the premises to de-escalate the situation by the officer, instead officers reported she became verbally and physically aggressive; WCNC detailed the sequence where she kicked over a stool and knocked decorations from a table before advancing towards the officer.
Following the altercation, McCollum was detained, requiring medical clearance from Iredell Memorial Hospital before her subsequent booking. The QC News adds that at the Iredell County Magistrate’s Office, a $75,000 secured bond was set.
