Details of the arrest were made public when, on Wednesday, Johnson was extradited from Prince Georges County in adherence to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. The case against Johnson drew attention due to the violent method employed in the carjacking, which involved using pepper spray—a tactic not commonly associated with such crimes in the region, as per the Metropolitan Police Department.
A statement issued by the Metropolitan Police Department noted, "The victim exited the vehicle to confront the suspect. The suspect pepper sprayed the victim, entered the vehicle, and fled the scene." The victim, fortunately, did not sustain life-threatening injuries but required medical treatment.
