Two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery at an October car show in unincorporated Sacramento County, capping what investigators describe as a multi-week hunt by robbery detectives and the sheriff's SWAT team. Authorities said Tuesday's coordinated operation led to the detention of a 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old male juvenile, both now booked into county detention facilities.

Arrests And Booking

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the adult suspect is 25-year-old Joseph Barrera, who was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail. The 17-year-old was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall. Robbery detectives identified the pair as suspects and obtained Ramey arrest warrants, with both men facing robbery allegations, the office said.

How The Robbery Unfolded

The Sheriff's Office said the juvenile suspect "produced and used a knife pressed against the victim's stomach" and forcibly pulled away a chain necklace during the Oct. 12 car show. Barrera is accused of taking the victim's wallet, which held multiple credit cards.

Both suspects then fled in a vehicle, according to investigators, and are accused of using the stolen cards to make fraudulent purchases at a local liquor store and at a Taco Bell.

Investigation And Tips

Robbery detectives tracked down the suspects with help from the sheriff's SWAT unit during what officials described as a coordinated arrest operation. Authorities are still interested in hearing from anyone who may have information about the Oct. 12 car show robbery.

Tipsters can call the Sheriff's non-emergency line or submit information through the department's online portal, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office tip page.

Legal Process

Robbery charges are expected to be filed following the arrests. Detectives obtained Ramey arrest warrants as part of the investigation, and the District Attorney's Office will decide on any formal filings, officials said.

Barrera remains held on $100,000 bail. The juvenile suspect will move through the juvenile court system under its separate detention and adjudication rules, according to the Sheriff's Office.
