In a case that has reverberated through the Tarrant County community, Joe Luis Saucedo, a 67-year-old man, has been convicted and sentenced for indecency with a minor. The incident, dated November 15, 2021, involved Saucedo inappropriately touching a 16-year-old girl as she slept. Roused to vigilance, the teenager chased the assailant out of her home, wielding a broom, an act followed by an immediate call to 911, as outlined by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office in a recent social media post.
The trial concluded with a jury finding Saucedo guilty, factoring in a previous felony conviction for driving while intoxicated, the gravity of which increased the immediacy of justice served. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office thanked the Fort Worth Police Department "for your work on this case and for keeping our community safe." Saucedo's conduct, now exposed to legal scrutiny, has led to a 45-year prison sentence, confirming the severity of the violation committed against the young girl.
Prosecution efforts by ADAs Jeanne Truglio and Mary Martin, Investigator Briant Thomas, and Victim Coordinator Clara Salvatierra underscored the collaboration required to bring such a case to close. Their combined work was instrumental not only in conviction but in sending a broader message to the community about the intolerance for such acts.
