According to the Facebook post by the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, several precautions can significantly reduce the risks associated with these exchanges. Among the recommendations are meeting in public, well-lit places, or utilizing police "Safe Exchange Zones" for the transactions. Additionally, informing a friend or family member of your whereabouts and who you are meeting, as well as bringing a companion for further safety, is strongly advised.
Shoppers are also encouraged to trust their instincts and to leave any situation that feels uncomfortable or threatening. In scenarios that require the sharing of personal information, it is suggested that sharing is kept to a minimum. The Sheriff's Office also recommends thoroughly inspecting the items in question in public places and ensuring satisfaction before completing any payment transfers.
