The search is on for a tractor-trailer driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a woman with serious injuries, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has reported. On November 5, around 7 a.m., the victim was reportedly on the side of I-81 South near Jearoldstown, Greene County, attempting to change a tire when her vehicle was struck by the truck, a statement from the THP described in WBIR.
According to the preliminary information gathered, she was hit by her own car and thrown from the scene, sustaining serious injuries. A witness behind the tractor-trailer reported that the driver did pull over at first, but then, without exiting the cab, fled the scene and continued driving south on I-81, this account detailed by WVLT.
THP has released a description of the suspect vehicle, noting it as a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) hauling a white box trailer, which might have visible damage on its right side, possibly near the rear axles of the tractor or the front of the box trailer, "The only description available for the suspect vehicle is a CMV hauling a white box trailer," THP stated in a release shared by WBIR.
The authorities are urging anyone who might have witnessed the crash or has any pertinent information regarding the driver or vehicle to reach out. THP has provided a contact number for Sgt. Jonathan Scott at the THP Emergency Dispatch Communications Center, citizens can call (865) 895-6950 to aid in the ongoing investigation, as was mentioned in information provided by WATE.
