Memphis police have taken three men into custody following a brazen heist at a jewelry store in Whitehaven, with the suspects leading officers on a chase that crossed state lines into Mississippi. The robbery occurred at Memphis Gold & Diamonds on Elvis Presley Boulevard just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Two of the suspects reportedly disguised themselves as women to facilitate the crime. The trio, along with two additional perpetrators who remain unidentified, made off with an estimated $200,000 in jewels before the police interceded, according to Action News 5.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) swiftly responded to the incident, managing to apprehend one individual on the scene while four accomplices attempted to rapidly escape in a Nissan Maxima. Despite the MPD's efforts to pull the vehicle over, the suspects succeeded in driving into Mississippi where they were eventually stopped around Nail Road and Summerset Road. In what became a foot pursuit, the group tried to desperately flee from law enforcement but three were ultimately detained, as highligted by FOX13 Memphis.

The detainees have been identified as Damaikual Davis, 26, Tevin Gathings, 27, and Zykeione Campbell, 25. Charges against them include aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, with Gathings also facing a charge for intentionally evading arrest in an automobile. "All three men were still in custody in Mississippi," the MPD confirmed in a statement procured by FOX13 Memphis.

As the investigation continues, authorities are actively pursuing the remaining two suspects. Memphis police earlier mistakenly detained a fourth individual who was later released after verification that he was not involved in the robbery. Anyone with pertinent information has been urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH, as reported by WREG.
