Tulsa drivers, brace yourselves for another day of narrowed lanes and construction delays as numerous projects continue to affect traffic across the region. According to information obtained from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Thursday will see westbound I-244 reduced to a single lane at W. 51st St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for overhead sign repairs, though the off-ramp to Southwest Blvd/51st St. remains open.
Simultaneously, maintenance crews will narrow westbound US-412 to one lane at 33rd W. Ave. during the same hours, impacting bridge maintenance operations. Ongoing construction projects are no strangers to local commuters, with the I-44/US-75 interchange improvement effort slated to run through summer 2028 and mandating multiple detours due to ramp closures, such as the southbound US-75 on-ramp from 41st St. that remains shut.
As part of the interchange improvements at I-44 and US-75, the shutdown extends to Skelly Dr. between Union Ave. and Olympia Ave., and 51st St. between Jackson Ave. and Olympia Ave. Further complicating local commutes, 46th St. has been pared down to one lane at US-75, regulated by temporary traffic signals to manage the flow, as per the ODOT's traffic advisory.
Traffic at the I-44, SH-66 interchange in Catoosa also faces restrictions with ongoing construction until 2026. Here, drivers will encounter various closures, including the westbound I-44 off-ramp to northbound SH-66 and the southbound SH-66 ramp to westbound I-44, which suffers from a limited merge area. Eastbound travelers on I-44 are advised of shifted lanes and altered ramp access near 193rd E. Ave.
Beyond these significant projects, US-75 will see lane reductions to one lane in each direction between 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. through summer 2026 as bridge rehabilitation work progresses. Sand Springs' SH-97 is undergoing pavement rehabilitation with an expected completion in November 2025, and Morrow Rd. is closed at the highway. Wekiwa Rd., too, faces narrowing near SH-97. Lastly, SH-66 prompts drivers to remember the single-lane configuration at Bird Creek bridge near Catoosa, an arrangement slated to extend to early 2026 due to bridge replacement.
