After a meticulous investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service, Tra-Shawn Robinson, 26, wanted on multiple charges including aggravated assault and sexual exploitation of a minor, was apprehended in Grenada, Mississippi. The arrest, executed on November 19, was a collaborative effort between various law enforcement agencies. According to a press release by the U.S. Marshals, Robinson had felony warrants out for his arrest since October 24, prompting the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to enlist the help of the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Robinson had managed to initially evade arrest by fleeing from the Memphis area, but the task force was eventually able to track him down. Developing information suggested he had relocated to Grenada, leading the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force to request the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force of Northern Mississippi. As per the press release, deputies were able to pinpoint Robinson to a West Monroe Street residence. When law enforcement arrived, Robinson chose to barricade himself within, initially refusing to come out peacefully.
The standoff saw Robinson holed up in the residence as authorities from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and other agencies surrounded the building. The situation eventually escalated, requiring U.S. Marshals to forcibly enter the premises. Upon entry, they discovered Robinson in the bathtub, armed with a machete-style knife and exhibiting self-inflicted wounds. He was then taken into custody and immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, as noted in the U.S. Marshals' press release.
Since its establishment in 2006, the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has been instrumental in securing the capture of over 70,800 fugitives. Their partnerships span 61 federal, state, and local agencies, making them a formidable force in law enforcement. The U.S. Marshals accentuate the importance of community collaboration by urging anyone with information on wanted fugitives to come forward and contact their nearest U.S. Marshals office or their Communications Center with any pertinent tips.
