Wake Forest is setting the sustainability bar high with its latest initiative to shepherd the town towards a greener future, and it's calling on locals to play their part. The Town of Wake Forest has teamed up with Blue Strike Environmental to craft a Sustainability Plan, which will act as the go-to guide for eco-conscious town operations and community sustainability movements.
True to its mission detailed in Goal 4 of the Wake Forest Strategic Plan, which emphasizes Investing in Transportation and Infrastructure, the plan’s creation process is meticulous: it includes an analysis of current conditions, a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory, and a climate vulnerability assessment—but it doesn't stop there, because a town's vision for its future shouldn’t be shaped by consultants alone. That's why on December 4, Wake Forest residents are invited to attend open house sessions where they can learn more about the planning process and inject their own views straight into the town's environmental blueprint, the sessions will take place at the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging, located at 235 E. Holding Ave., and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
For those looking to weigh in on Wake Forest's environmental destiny, these sessions are a prime opportunity. Town staff along with representatives from Blue Strike Environmental will be there, ready to field questions and collect the public's input on the sustainability strategies that matter to them—and with plans to tackle both town operations and district-wide initiations you can bet there'll be plenty to talk about.
The town is holding open house sessions to involve residents in planning for a more sustainable future. These meetings give the community a chance to provide input and help shape the plan. For more information, visit the Town of Wake Forest's official announcement.
