The White Settlement Police Department has recently heralded the graduation of participants from its Citizens Police Academy and Junior Police Academy. The community's newest graduates, including Dallen Ford from the Citizens Police Academy and Katelynn Gacobus, Jace Wanzer, John Wanzer, Emilio Woods, and Shelby Mosley from the Junior Police Academy, received commendations from Chief Christopher Cook. The ceremonies were marked by the presence of notable local authorities, including Mayor Young, Mayor Pro Tem Munoz, and Councilwoman Espinosa, as revealed in a social media post by the White Settlement Police Department.
Lieutenant James Stewart administered the Citizens Police Academy while Corporal Jonathan Russell directed the Public Safety Cadets' Junior Police Academy. The event was further graced with honors as Emilio Woods was recognized as the Junior Police Academy Cadet of the Year, and Shelby Mosley was lauded for perfect attendance. In a display of community engagement, members from the Civil Service Commission, Crime Control and Prevention District, and the Training Advisory Board attended the ceremony, reaffirming the bond between the police force and local governance.
At the heart of the police academy programs is the goal of fostering understanding and building bridges between law enforcement and the public. Through these initiatives, participants gain insight into the daily duties and responsibilities of police officers, potentially inspiring future careers in public service or simply broadening civilians' perspectives on police work.
