The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a forecast that includes a Winter Weather Advisory for Erie and Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania, starting from 10 AM this morning to 1 PM EST Monday, as reported on their website. According to the National Weather Service Area Forecast Discussion, lake effect precipitation is expected to develop over Northwest PA through Monday, with snowfall rates and accumulations likely to increase tonight into the pre-dawn hours of Monday. Totals could range from 6-8 inches with localized amounts reaching up to 8-10 inches where the snow band persists.

Gusty winds across the whole region are also anticipated, with forecasts predicting gusts reaching 30 to 40 mph and possibly approaching 45 mph along the lakeshore of Northeast Ohio/Northwest Pennsylvania and the higher terrain of Northern Ohio. Despite uncertainty around the exact placement of the heaviest snow band, it's clear that the snowfall gradient will be sharp, making a significant difference in local impacts and the potential for a primary Lake Huron enhanced band brings additional caution to the area's weather narrative, but nevertheless, the National Weather Service has not yet escalated the advisory to a Snow Warning.

On the aviation front, the NWS expects VFR (Visual Flight Rules) to prevail at Ohio terminals, but strong northwest wind gusts will be a concern, which could affect flight operations. "NW winds of 10-15 knots this morning will increase to 15-20 knots this afternoon and evening, and gusts of 20-25 knots this morning will increase to 30-35 knots this afternoon and evening," the forecast noted, with the possibility of periods of heavier snow and MVFR (Marginal Visual Flight Rules) or lower conditions sporadically affecting airports like KERI.

Regarding marine conditions, a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for parts of Lake Erie, with NW winds of 20-30 knots expected till late tonight, creating "very rough conditions" with wave heights potentially reaching 9 to 11 feet in some areas. High pressure moving in around midweek should give the region a brief reprieve from these conditions, leading to lighter and more variable winds on the lake before another low pressure system could stir things up again later in the week.
