A woman in her 40s was taken in critical condition to a nearby hospital after being found unresponsive in the ocean off Kaka'ako Waterfront Park yesterday. According to KITV, bystanders discovered the woman not breathing and facedown in the water near a surf break known as "Flies."
Ocean Safety was to quickly respond to the 911 call at around 1:45 p.m., deploying a rescue jetski that managed to retrieve the woman some 50 yards from shore. Lifeguards then initiated CPR before she was transferred to the emergency services team. "EMS arrived at the scene and continued to perform life-saving measures on the woman before taking her to the emergency room in critical condition," as reported by KHON2.
The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Honolulu Ocean Safety coordinated in the rescue and resuscitation efforts. The woman's current condition has yet to be updated as EMS and hospital authorities have not released any further information following the initial reports.
