Turning a museum visit into a local family affair, Yolo County Board of Supervisors' Oscar Villegas is set to welcome residents to enjoy a day at the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity. Slated for November 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the event, dubbed Yolo Day, gives Yolo County families a chance to immerse themselves in the wonders of science, free of charge.

"MOSAC offers an incredible opportunity to spark curiosity and inspire a love of learning in people of all ages," Supervisor Villegas told Yolo County. He aims to actively engage children and adults alike by showing them how learning can be a process filled with joy and transformative experiences. Yolo Day's key feature will be to quickly invite families to explore the museum's exhibits, which cover a variety of scientific disciplines, encouraging visitors to engage directly with the hands-on displays.

Since its grand reopening in 2021, MOSAC has become a center for discovery and innovation in the Sacramento region. Its interactive displays are designed to create a hands-on learning environment across many fields of science. The museum has also built strong connections with local STEM organizations to create diverse learning experiences aimed at sparking a lifelong curiosity for science among its visitors.

Supervisor Angel Barajas, who had a hand in sponsoring Yolo Day, echoed the sentiments around the value of educational engagement. "This partnership is a wonderful way to strengthen community ties and inspire the next generation of innovators," Barajas commented to Yolo County. With a strong focus on STEM, the event aspires to not only entertain but open up the possibility for guests to more deeply imagine themselves as part of the scientific community.

Interested attendees are encouraged to reach out and secure their spot for the November 22 event. Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, with space being limited. To register, Yolo County residents can email Viviana Dazo, Assistant Deputy to Supervisor Villegas, with their contact information and the number of individuals attending.
