A 15-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy near a Dollar General store in Highland Park. The incident, which occurred on Nov. 25 just before 4 p.m., led to the 13-year-old's death following injuries sustained in the shooting. According to officials, the victim collapsed in the parking lot and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
CBS Detroit stated that the Highland Park Police Department called for assistance from Michigan State Police, who served several search warrants in the case. The suspect was taken into custody Sunday night by detectives from the MSP Second District Special Investigation Section and members of the MSP Second District Fugitive Team. Charges are pending as prosecutors review the case. The identity of the juvenile suspect has not been released due to legal protections for minors.
