
The Metropolitan Police Department has taken one individual into custody in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in October in Southeast DC. 18-year-old Teyonna Barber of Capitol Heights, MD, faces charges related to the incident that left a victim stripped of possessions at gunpoint, the department reported yesterday.
According to the police department, the victim was meeting with Barber on the 300 block of Anacostia Road on the night of October 28. Barber briefly entered and then left the victim’s vehicle, before subsequently, two armed assailants approached, threatening the victim and demanding property. The victim, fortunately, emerged unscathed physically and was able to drive away from the scene. The other two suspects remain at large, with the Metropolitan Police Department circulating surveillance images of them.
Barber's arrest on Wednesday came as a result of a D.C. Superior Court warrant charging her with Armed Robbery (Gun). The Metropolitan Police Department is actively seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the two remaining suspects linked to the crime. The department has publicized images from surveillance footage in the hopes that community members might recognize the individuals.
Community members with information are advised to exercise caution and not to approach the suspects. Instead, they are encouraged to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or send their tips anonymously via text to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for details that lead to an arrest and, indictment in this violent crime that affected the sense of security within the community.
