
An 87-year-old driver was left trapped but with only minor injuries after his car collided with a semi-truck in Commerce Township, Michigan, on Tuesday morning. According to CBS News Detroit, the accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pontiac Trail as the semi was exiting a Walmart parking lot. The elderly driver's Chevrolet Malibu crashed into the semi's trailer and became pinned within the twisted metal of his vehicle's remains, prompting a response from the Commerce Township Fire Department who managed to free the man from the wreckage.
The incident created a significant disruption in the area affecting the traffic along Pontiac Trail near Haggerty, as stated by Audacy. The driver was subsequently transported to Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital, and despite the severity of the crash, the truck driver did not suffer injuries, luckily the 87-year-old man was also not seriously harmed. Oakland County Sheriff's deputies issued a citation to the driver of the semi-truck following the collision, while the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
A dramatic scene unfolded as the elderly driver's car was left visibly mangled after the incident. Despite the potential for grave outcomes, those involved escaped the worst, and no other injuries were reported from the scene.
