After more than two decades of serving Southwestern cuisine and margaritas to the local patrons of southeast Atlanta, Agave will be shutting its doors permanently at the end of January. Located adjacent to Oakland Cemetery at 242 Boulevard SE, the establishment has become a fixture in the community since its inception in October 2000, as reported by Atlanta News First.
The family-owned restaurant, which just marked its 25th anniversary, attributed its closure to the "current economic climate and unsustainable conditions," in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. "This decision was not made lightly, but as our family looks toward a new chapter, we find it is time to say goodbye," the restaurant conveyed, acknowledging the support and memories it has shared with its customers throughout the years.
Known for its expansive tequila selection and distinctive margaritas, Agave has been a beloved part of the local dining scene, offering a taste of Southwestern flair within the bustling cityscape. Regular customers and admirers of the restaurant now have until January 31, 2026 to visit and enjoy what has been a staple dining spot in the area.
In support of their staff during the transition, Agave's owners have organized a GoFundMe page and are encouraging patrons to contribute as a gesture of goodwill the funds will aid the workers who have been the backbone of the restaurant's operation. As shared by FOX 5 Atlanta and echoing through their Facebook announcement.
